The Barrow-Downs are located in one of the Shire's four farthings (it's been a while since I've read the books). Anyways, this place is not in the movies - it was in the book, The Fellowship of the Ring. Very creepy place - watch out for those Dwarrow-dwights or whatever they're called. I forget. xD

Mordor is a rather depressing place - just go ask Frodo if you're not sure. 
It is said to have large, vast and hot plains, miserable pits, rocky slopes, and forbidding mountains.

Located south of Mirkwood, the Dead Marshes are found north of the Brown Lands. This place is slightly hard to describe, assuming someone hasn't seen the movie (but then I don't know why they are reading this board). Dead people underwater, basically.

Gondor is the home of Aragorn (duh). It consists of about six rounded white tower-like things that go upwards. Tolkien describes this waaay better than I can - see the picture on the board for more of a description.
